our story
15+ years in marketing, 7+ years focusing on students
The founder of Universitymarketing.eu, Lukas Colombo Wiesner, draws on extensive experience in marketing to students: an international department of a university, university consortium, common international marketing project of 3 universities, a regional innovation ecosystem, and an NGO focusing on students.
Nowadays he specialises in Product Marketing in B2B context and applies the Product Marketing and Data-driven Decision Making principles to international university marketing.
Past projects

Masaryk University is prestigious higher education institution in Czech Republic (QS Ranking #=430) educating students from over 80 countries. Colombo's goal in the International Marketing team was to bring international students to the university's full-time programmes and to promote mobility within Erasmus+ (ICM) and other schemes. For 4 years, he was setting up marketing strategy, creating content and marketing materials, organising events, orchestrating PPC campaigns, teaching his counterparts from partner universities within the MUST Week event, and much more.

The eight partners of the EDUC European Digital UniverCity Alliance create a truly integrated European University with students, researchers, and administrative staff using modern digital tools and face-to-face collaboration. Colombo's role was to develop the website architecture and co-create the marketing strategy for the first few years of the project, and fulfilling the dissemination requirements for the respective work package.

Study in Brno is a project connecting the three Brno's biggest universities – Brno University of Technology, Masaryk University and Mendel University in Brno. The aim is to support each other in promotion and other activities, attend study fairs together, and bring more international students to Brno. Colombo's role was to help build the website, orcehstrate and build PPC campaigns, and co-create the marketing strategy of the project.

Brno Tech Region is the name for the innovation ecosystem of Brno and the South Moravian Region. Companies and institutions use it to promote local innovation, technology, science and research. Colombo's role was to manage promotional content for #brnoregion with a goal to bring more international students, scientists, and workers to the region.

Frequently asked questions
Do you provide customised trainings for staff?
Yes, we do. Since the only way to make trainings really impactful is to tailor them to the audience, the only trainings we provide are customised and on-demand. See more in our Pricing section.
Can I cover the the fee from the Erasmus+, Erasmus+ ICM or other grants?
It depends on how you have filled the grant application in your development projects. Some projects actually require the staff to be trained, which fits cooperation with Universitymarketing.eu perfectly. If you are filling the applications now, make sure to include the education and consultations budget.
Do you provide services such as copywriting, graphics, webdesign, etc.?
In general, we provide analysis, guidance, trainings, mentoring, and consultancy. Part of the aforementioned services may be examples or templates, but it is not the main focus of our offer – our goal is to guide our partners to become self-sustainable in all marketing tasks.
If necessary, we can create an individual offer which includes the tasks mentioned in the title, but often it makes better financial sense to outsource them to some of our trusted partners.
How do you use AI when providing the service?
We do not use AI for any task which requires thinking, experience, or decisions. We believe that our customers and partners chose us for our skills and knowledge, not to copy-paste texts. That’s why we only use AI to speed up manual processes, such as: note-making, compiling data, identifying similar institutions according to their profile, scraping information from public sources so that an actual person can analyze it, etc.
That’s why we guarantee that not one line of text and not one analysis we provide will be generated by AI.
An exception to the rule is using AI to simulate how prospective students interact with it when researching their possibilities and your institution – in that field we are limited to the results of the AI queries.
Why does Universitymarketing.eu have no social networks
In marketing, it is vital to only focus on what really provides results. For Universitymarketing.eu, social networks are – so far – just not worth it, it is too much time spent for too little impact. In future, we plan on starting a LinkedIn group focusing on international university marketing where our customers can share knowledge and inspiration.
How does the invoicing process look like?
It depends on the workflow of your institution.
Invoicing goes through Colombo, who is a tax resident of Czech Republic, non-payer of VAT. Standard way is to send an invoice after specified part of cooperation is concluded, but we can send pro-forma invoice based on order or do any other workflow your institution needs. You can find more in our pricing section.
